I am always impressed when people with really deep knowledge make it easy for me to understand what they are saying, and Jon Worth's railway analyses are a recent discovery in that realm.
A railway trip is green. But the railway sector as a whole in Europe β due to a combination of factors within the industry and political problems β is incapable of making a step change in terms of modal share. In the middle of a climate crisis that is not good enough.
He offers reasons why this is so and ways to fix it, but little hope.

Interesting to read Devastatia's IndieWeb Carnival entry, which opens with an account of The Breakfast Club, the day after we saw The Holdovers. Unable to login to Monocle

Monocle would not allow me to login using this site, saying there was no microsub endpoint. This was because in upgrading Known, I had forgotten that I had added the link to microsub before. I had also forgotten which of the hundreds of template files I had to edit in order to do that. In the end I found it with a brute-force search for all files ending in `.tpl.php` The file in question lives at `./IdnoPlugins/IndiePub/templates/default/indiepub/shell/head.tpl.php`.
Having found the correct file to edit, the rest was straightforward thanks to [excellent instructions.

It has been a nerdy late afternoon, spelunking into quite a few rabbit holes that I would never normally have discovered. Like this post about correcting the fluttering audio on the soundtrack of Steamboat Willie, thanks to ooh.directory. I even understood some of it.
Robert has a good solution to blocking text-to-speech narration in audiobooks, not a problem for me as I don't listen. But ... the 2023 roundup of Tyler Cowan's podcast said they were recording his voice for a custom text-to-speech. Might be worthwhile.
