"Who We Are: #8 India"

The Aryan-Invasion-Theory sure looks to be basically correct. As for the archaeologists saying that there’s not enough evidence of devastation, Reich points out that they can’t really detect the fall of the western Roman Empire, which hardly means it didn’t happen. War and migration are well-known important factors in written history – why not in prehistory? Because many contemporary archaeologist and historians think that wishing can make it so. They should be paid accordingly.

Interesting reading, though I cannot quite see how the various personae might map onto a single micro.blog site. Nevertheless, I look forward to whatever you come up with.

One question. I know 10C offers Notes and Todos and Photos, but I have never seen anything here that would encourage me to use those facilities. My notes are in nvALT and my todos are on paper and my photos are in lot of places, but they're all on my desktop machine. So why would I want to use those facilities here? And are you sure they are worth keeping in your "silo"?

Still puzzled by why some photo posts in Known go through to micro.blog with an image and others don’t. Almost all are PESOS from Instagram. I thought I had an explanation, but it doesn’t hold up.

Crossed the wide Pecos ...

Playing Lyle Lovett singing Texas River Song, even though I know it's a stretch, to celebrate having eaten a giant bowl of my own dogfood.

A couple of weeks ago I followed Chris Aldrich to reading.am, which is a neat little spot for just putting down a marker for something that you're reading. I wanted more. I wanted to be able to save links to the things I marked. And now, a little over two weeks later, I've done it.

I have a PHP file that fetches the RSS feeds of things I've marked in reading.am, looks for any that are new since the last time the program ran, and then POSTS the results to Known's micropub endpoint. PESOS for my bookmarks!

There is no way I could have done it without amazing help from people on the IndieWeb IRC, and it isn't perfect by any means. There's more work to be done, for sure, before I even think about sharing the code.

But hey, it works.

And, as my main helper said, "Launch early and iterate often".

I'll be doing that.
